The arrivals of migrants and refugees in the islands of the northern Aegean that were recorded in the 24 hours from Sunday morning until Monday morning have recorded a record high.
According to official figures of the Greek Police in Lesvos, Chios and Samos, the arrivals reached a total of 9.763 persons.
Of these, about 1,500 arrived in Samos, about 2,500 went to Chios – which to date it hadn’t seen a large number of arrivals compared to the other islands – and the rest, more than 5,000, passed to Lesvos.
The latter figure came to be added to the approximately 6,500 persons who are already in Lesvos, most of them gathered in the area surrounding the Central Recording Center of Morias, awaiting their registration.
Given that the situation at the Center is difficult, due to the lack of adequate infrastructure to accommodate such a large numbers of arrivals, the recording procedure becomes even more difficult.
