The speaker of the parliament of Kosovo, Kadri Veseli, declared in the conference dubbed “Building of Albanian-Serb relations”, taking place in Mitrovica, that joint communication between Serbs and Albanians is the only way of reducing tension in the relations between the two countries.
Veseli said that since the proclamation of Kosovo’s independence in 2008, “no other major ethnic problem has occurred”.
“Let us talk in order to communicate not only with politicians, but to also offer communication between citizens. We have very few Serbs who have left Kosovo and in the villages of Gracanica and Shterpa, Serbs have integrated thanking Serb politicians in the government of Kosovo, who have communicated with Albanians and together, we have achieved a stable situation”, Veseli said.
According to him, for the time being, Northern Mitrovica is the only place where relations between Albanians and Serbs are aggravated.
“We’re making efforts to normalize relations between the two countries in this part of Kosovo too”, Veseli said.
A debate is being held at RTV Mitrovica on relations between Albanian and Serbs, with the participation of both ethnic groups and several ambassadors. /ibna/
