The Albanian government is determined on making a reassessment of the OSCE presence in Albania. To talk about this argument, the Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, held a meeting in New York with the Secretary General of OSCE, Mr. Lamberto Zannier.
Bushati and Zannier talked about the collaboration of Albania with the organization and the role of OSCE presence in Albania, to support reforms in the country, as part of the integrating agenda of Albania in the European Union.
The sides expressed the need for a more structured collaboration between Albania and the organization, by reassessing the priorities of the OSCE presence in Albania.
According to the Albanian Foreign Ministry, Bushati and Zannieri agreed on reassessing the priorities of the OSCE presence in Albania with the aim of improving the efficiency of the activity of the organization in Albania, in order to tackle challenges that Albania faces.
Minister Bushati and Mr. Zannier also discussed on the latest developments and the role that the organization can play in addressing a number of security issues.
In the first 10 years of the OSCE’s presence in Albania, there was only the head office in Tirana and several offices in other cities of the country, but they were closed in the framework of the drastic cuts that were made. /ibna/
