Mayor of northern Mitrovica, Goran Rakic says that the decision of the Communal Assembly, which had decided for the construction of the “Peace Park” in the northern part of the Iber river bridge, will not be annulled.

He has denied the declarations issued by the minister of Environment, Dardan Gashi that there exists a signed memorandum that annuls the construction of squares in the north.

“There have been talks in Pristine with the minister of Environment, Dardan Hashi. But, no memorandum has been signed. As far as the prohibition of constructions is concerned, this has to do with the so called ‘Valley of Doctors’”, said Rakic.

Acting minister of Environment, Dardan Gashi has reacted against the declarations of the mayor of northern Mitrovica, Goran Rakic by saying that he has never claimed that there’s a memorandum.

“But, we’re working in this direction”, said the minister of Environment, Dardan Gashi, while demanding for this topic not to be politicized but to leave it to experts.

“We must also remind to those who have been involved to comply with the laws of the Republic of Kosovo and that every unlawful act would be considered as a felony”, said minister Gashi.

In the framework of the talks in Brussels between the Kosovar and Serb delegations, the ministry of Environment has institutionally vowed for the implementation of the demands about the application of law and order in the northern party, following the first positive steps from the citizens and Serb leadership to become part of the institutions of the republic of Kosovo. /ibna/
