The mayor of northern Mitrovica, Goran Rakic has called on the international community to make maximum efforts in addressing security issues and guarantee a safe environment for all the citizens of Kosovo.
His request came after an unexploded hand grenade was found on Saturday by police in the north of Mitrovica.
He said that two cars had been burned in “Philip Visnijic” street on Saturday and based on the preliminary inquiries, this happened two days after a similar incident had taken place.
“It’s hard to believe that these are not incidents orchestrated in order to spread panic among the Serb population in the north of Mitrovica and north of Kosovo”, said Rakic.
Such incidents may become a daily thing in Kosovo, if the international community doesn’t start addressing safety issues.
Rakic fears that this will spread even more fear and concern among Serbs and make all activities to bring back Serbs to their homes, meaningless.
Rakic also called on authorities to be responsible in their task and follow the Brussels agreement, which means offering safety for all the people of Kosovo and their properties. /ibna/
