Railway service interrupted for one day due to delayed salaries

Yesterday, the railway service was interrupted again due to delays in salaries. But today the railway workers have returned to work after reaching an agreement with the director of “Macedonian Railways-Transport”. Daniel Gzajkov, e member of trade union of railway workers, said that they will immediately receive a payment of 12 thousand denars or 200 Euros from February wages. He said this problem will eventually be fixed in order to avoid further delays.

“We’ll give them a period of 57 days until the end of May to clarify the salaries for March and April, meaning that the wages will be paid within the legal deadline. I hope they will understand and help us because in today’s meeting they asked for collaboration. We cannot continue like this without money. We need to have the basics in order to work 12 hours a day”, said driver Dzajkov. Railway employees entered a two weeks strike over non-payment of salaries, but the problem was settled after the government decided to pay the debt.
