Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Turkey in January 2020, according to a statement from the Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitri Peskov.
Asked whether Putin is going to attend the opening ceremony of the TurkStream gas pipeline, Peskov responded that the visit was scheduled during one of the latest phone conversations between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In January 2020, when the TurkStream pipeline will have been completed in the Turkish territory, President Putin will visit Turkey; preparations for the visit are ongoing, Peskov told reporters in Moscow.
The TurkStream gas pipeline has a total capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters, with the first line’s capacity carrying 15.75 billion cubic meters of Russian gas for Turkish consumers. The second line will carry an additional 15.75 billion cubic meters of natural gas that will be shipped to Europe via Turkey.
The European route for TurkStream has yet to be officially announced. /ibna
