The President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin today, a few hours after the announcement of the meeting of the Russian President with the President of Syria Bashar al-Assad in Moscow.
Putin gave information about his talks with Assad and sent a message to Ankara that the operations against the jihadists will continue.
Erdogan expressed his fears regarding the bombing performed by Russian fighter jets in Aleppo, saying that Turkey fears a new wave of refugees from the region.
The newspaper Cumhuriyet, in a front page publication, says that the Turkish government has backed down from its previous position and has accepted the formula that includes Assad staying in power for six months until the political transition period in Syria is completed.
