Public debt in Albania goes up to 66% of Gross Domestic Product for the year to September, registering a 1% increase compared to the second quarter, when public debt was 65.1%. According to the country’s ministry of Finance and Economy, the total amount of debt is estimated to be 1,089 billion lek, registering an increase of 1.3 billion lek during the period April to June.
Meanwhile, domestic debt accounts for 54% of total debt, while foreign debt accounts for 46%. The banking system continues to be the biggest supplier of domestic loans with 61.19% of the total, followed by individuals with 15.15% of the total. /ibna/
