Protests take place against the amnesty bill

Pristina, July 11, 2013

Civil Society and citizens have joined in protest against the amnesty bill which is being deliberated for the second time in the parliament of Kosovo today. Protestors have held banners “We want justice, not amnesty” in their hands.

Protestors have demanded, like they did in the first protest, for the bill not to be voted, considering it a bill in favor of Serb structures which have perpetrated crimes.

“We demand from MPs not to vote the bill which pardons criminals. The bill must be withdrawn and be launched for a public debate”, says Shpend Kursani.

Meanwhile, Ilir Deda from KIPRED Institute has criticized the current amnesty bill by saying that it will be objected with the petition which is being drafted.

“If we collect 10 thousand signatures, we will return this Bill to parliament, even if it’s passed today”, said Deda.

Protestors have vowed that they will not stop their protest until their demands are met. /ibna/
