A massive protest was held today in Skopje to support the release of the Macedonian journalist, Tomislav Kezarovski.
Protesters have gathered in front of the Court of Appeal to demand the full release of journalist Kezarovski, who was sentenced by this court to 2 years in prison. Kezarovski was accused of leaking the identity of a protected witness in the case of a murder taken place in the city of Veles.
While the protest continued, the court ordered for journalist Kezarovski to be released from prison and placed into house arrest until February 18.
Naser Selmani, head of the Association of Journalists, appealed for the court to review its decision and immediately free journalist Kezarovski.
“We also have other demands, but we insist on the release of our colleague, because we believe that his conviction is unfair”, said Selmani.
The protest today has also been supported by other journalist associations, student associations, political parties and citizens. /ibna/
