Prosecution demands court to leave “Group of Drenica” in prison

Trial against “Group of Drenice”, whose members have been charged with war crimes proceeded in the hours of afternoon. The list of suspects has grown because Avni Zebeli, commander of the southern precinct of the police of Mitrovica was brought before court.

Meanwhile, prosecutor Maurizio Salustro has demanded for all defendants to be remanded into custody.

Former commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, mayor of Skenderaj, Sami Lushtaku, Sahit Jashari, Jahir Demaku, Zeqir Demaku and Hysni Thaci also appeared before Court of Appeal in Pristina today.

Meanwhile, EULEX police also brought to court the ambassador of Kosovo to Tirana, Sylejman Selimi. The court is expected to rule out in a few hours as to whether the defendants should be remanded into custody or not. Meanwhile, other fellow fighters of Lushtaku and Selimi are expected to appear before justice.

The defendants of “Drenica Group” are accused of war crimes allegedly committed in Likovc, Skendaraj, where the General Staff of the Kosovo Liberation Army was located. /ibna/
