The government says that within the month of February, it’s expecting to strike a new deal with Belgrade in relation to the agreement between the two countries.

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci confirmed on Monday afternoon (photo) that there will be a fresh meeting on February 12 between him and his Serb counterpart, Dacic, with the brokerage of European Union.

“We will meet again on February 12. We will discuss about the possibilities of improvement in the justice system in the north. I hope that this agreement is reached. We have the full support of the EU”, said Mr. Thaci.

Mr. Thaci based his conviction that a new agreement would be achieved with Belgrade on the talks that he had yesterday in Munich with senior officials of the EU and USA.

“Yesterday (02.02) I’ve talked to baroness Ashton in the Munich Conference. We also have the full  support of the USA, therefore I hope and strongly believe that an agreement will be reached on February 12 and that the justice system will fully function in the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo, based on the Constitution and laws of Kosovo and the April 19 Agreement”, said Mr. Thaci.

The prime minister also said that, “we’re not the first and last nations to have had a war with each other”, by stressing that “the war of Kosovo has been done against the presence of Serbia in Kosovo”.

Thaci added that: “Kosovo is free, independent and sovereign. It’s also in the interest of Albanians and Serbs, it’s in the interest of peace and stability to reach compromise and mutual cooperation and then as two sovereign countries, to integrate as soon as possible in the NATO and European Union”.
