“Pristina 2014” book fair opens

The traditional book fair opens its doors this Tuesday at the House of Youth for the 16th time. The biggest book fair in the capital, “Pristina 2014” is held this year between June 3 and June 8.

The premises of the House of Youth will exhibit around 4 thousand books, out of which 1500 are new titles from publishers from Kosovo, Albania and FYR Macedonia.

Present in the opening ceremony today will be the special guest of this edition, the French writer, Eouard Louis, who will present the book “En Finir Avec Eddy Bellegueule”.

Besides him, present in the opening ceremony will also be the minister of Culture of Albania, Mirela Kumbaro, minister of Culture of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi and mayor of Prishtina, Shpend Ahmeti.

This edition of the Book Fair in Pristina will see activities on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare, 200th anniversary of the birth of Jeronim de Rada, the 170th anniversary of the birth of Zef Serembe., the 140th anniversary of the birth of Shtrejfen Gjecovi, the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sterjo Spase, etc.

All these personalities will be commemorated in the framework of the inaugurations, debates and other activities.

The Association of Publishers of Kosovo will also honor with the Fair trophy, based on the judgment of the special jury, the best books in prose, poetry, criticism/literary studies, essays, publicity, the writer of the year (Albanian literature), the writer of the year (foreign literature), the most visited stand, etc. /ibna/
