Deputy PM of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci declared today that the principle of good neighboring relations is a prerequisite for the accession of Balkan countries in the EU.

“Good neighboring relations and regional cooperation is a measuring standard for the EU partners, in assessing whether we are ready for the process of the EU integration”, declared Thaci in the Third Conference of the Ambassadors of Kosovo, dubbed “The Position of the Republic of Kosovo in relation to the regional and global challenges”.

Thaci said that the focus of Brussels, Berlin, Paris, but Washington too has been the strengthening of peace and stability in the Balkan.

“In this aspect, we have given an extraordinary contribution, by becoming leaders of dialogue in Southeast Europe. We have been hosts of the Sixth Conference of Foreign Ministers of Western Balkan, making Pristina a crucial part of the Berlin Process initiated by chancellor Merkel”, Thaci said.

Thaci said that lobbying has taken place with partner states in order not to have delays in the signature of SAA.

“Kosovo is not demanding SAA out of pity, but because it deserves it. We have intensified our reforms, we have worked in the domain of trade and agriculture, as two priority domains for the EU and we have been engaged in dialogue with the neighboring countries. This year, we will enter a formal process of integration in the European Union and from now on, the expectations of Kosovo diplomacy change, focusing on activities relating to the Brussels’ agenda which means the strengthening of cross border cooperation”, said the Kosovo head of diplomacy. /ibna/
