The President of Cyprus leaves for Athens

The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, leaves this morning for Athens, Greece, where, later today, he will attend an event in honour of Greek citizens missing as a result of Turkey’s military invasion of Cyprus in 1974.

At the event, which will be also attended by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr Prokopis Pavloploulos, President Anastasiades will deliver a speech and award honorary diplomas to the relatives of the Greek missing persons.

The event will take place this afternoon at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in Athens.

Earlier in the day, the President of the Republic will attend a working lunch hosted in his honour by the Cyprus Union of Ship-owners.

The President will be accompanied in Athens by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr Marios Demetriades, and the Government Spokesman, Mr Nikos Christodoulides.
