The issue of the border demarcation between Kosovo and Montenegro has seen an unexpected supporter.
It’s the US President, Barack Obama, who has backed the demarcation process in a meeting with the new ambassador of Kosovo to Washington, Vlora Citaku.
“The signing of the historical agreement for the demarcation of border between Kosovo and Montenegro on August 26, demonstrated that Kosovo is determined for good neighboring relations and for your resolve in order for regional issues to be addressed in the spirit of dialogue and collaboration”, Obama said.
President Obama said that Kosovo’s determination to address the abovementioned challenges in a responsible and constructive way, has led Kosovo into a solid path of stability, security and prosperity in a free and peaceful Europe.
The US president’s support follows the strong reactions by the opposition in Kosovo which objected to the demarcation with Montenegro, claiming that Kosovo is losing a significant part of its territory. /ibna/
