President Nishani: We must not let pressure intervene in the work of judges

Tirana, September 18, 2013

Supreme Council of Justice has held today a meeting, which decided the starting procedures for the establishment of the Administrative Court.

The meeting of SCJ, which saw the participation of the new Minister of Justice, Nasip Naco, discussed over the criteria for the transfer of judges. The President said that SCJ’s objective is to give more assurances to judges that there will be no interventions in their work. “Supreme Council of Justice will aim to assure judges that there will be no interventions or pressures made to their work, in order for their rulings to be as transparent and as fair as possible”, said President Bujar Nishani.

The President said that the transfer of judges will be made on the basis of professional criteria. “With the iron will to promote the best judges, in less than a year, SCJ resolved the issue of the assessment of judges. Every transfer has been made by making a good professional assessment. SCJ has made a pact to abide the law and not make a compromise with anybody”, said Nishani.

In his speech, president Nishani said that in the recent years, SCJ has increased performance toward transparency in the system of justice. /ibna/
