The President of Albania, Bujar Nishani participated in the meeting of the heads of BRDO process in Slovenia, where he also had a special meeting with the French President, François Hollande.
During the meeting with the heads of BRDO process, President Nishani declared that there’s a lot of optimism for the country to be granted the EU candidate status at the end of the year now that all the recommendations have been fulfilled.
“We remain entirely committed in boosting up the fight against corruption and organized crime, and in accelerating the reforms in order to achieve European standards. This is a process which requires continuity. This is how we will offer to our citizens European quality services and this is how we will achieve European integration”, said President Nishani.
President Nishani also underlined in his speech the fact that the Western Balkan has changed the page of history, by turning from a source of conflicts into a place of great opportunities.
Praising the role of BRDO process for the strengthening of good neighborly relations, stability and integrating processes of the countries of the region, President Nishani said that Slovenia and Croatia are strong advocates of our region in the EU and that their achievements are a value which must be exploited in the integrating process of all the countries of the region.
On the eve of the meeting with the heads of the states of BRDO process, President Nishani also had a special meeting with the French President, François Hollande.
President Nishani expressed his gratitude to France for the constant support given to Albania in the process of reforms and European integration. Nishani said that Albania will remain engaged in accelerating reforms for the strengthening of democracy in the realization of its European agenda and that it will continue to be a factor of peace and stability in the region.
On his part, President Hollande expressed the support of France for the European integration of Albania and said that the last elections were a proof of the advancement of democracy. President Hollande also said that France will support Albania in being granted the EU candidate status. /ibna/
