President of Republic, Bujar Nishani has praised the role of Albanian religious communities in the USA. In the visits held in these communities, he said that these communities deserve the veneration of every Albanian for supporting the national cause and for always upholding the name of Albanian.
On his second day of stay in Detroit, President of Republic, Bujar Nishani visited the Albanian Masjid of Bektashi-“Masjid of Father Recep”, where he was received by Father Arshi Baze. Nishani also visited the Albanian Islamic Center, where he was welcomed by Imam Shuajb Gerguri. President Nishani also visited the Albanian Catholic Church “Reconciliation Lady of Albanians”, where he was welcomed by Dom Ndue Gjergji and in the Albanian Catholic Church of St. Paul where he was welcomed by Dom Fran Kolaj.
During these visits, the head of the state met with heads of religious institutions and many Albanian believers who were present there. Present in this meeting were also mayors of the towns in which these religious institutions are located.
In his speech, President Nishani praised the role and contribution of the Albanian Diaspora in America. “Albanians of America deserve the veneration of every Albanian for supporting the Albanian cause, for upholding the name of Albanian, for upholding patriotism, the flag and for preserving the culture of our rich traditions”, said Nishani.
President Nishani pointed out the role of communities in strengthening the friendship with the USA, the biggest ally of Albanians and Albania. “The church, mosque and masjid have been and have remained the house of God and Albanians”, said Nishani.
The mayor of Harper Woods, Mr. Kenneth Poynter, present in the Albanian Islamic Center, on behalf of the City Council, handed to President Nishani a Proclamation of Honor for the great service for Albanian and Albanians. In the Catholic Church “Lady of the Reconciliation of Albanians”, mayor of Southfield, Mrs. Brenda Lawrence thanked the president on behalf of the citizens of this municipality. /ibna/
