EU chief for foreign affairs, Catherine Ashton has received a letter from the President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga on the subject of the creation of the Special Court and the continuation of EULEX mandate.
The news was confirmed for the media by the spokeswoman of Mrs. Ashton, Maja Kocijancic.
“Baroness Ashton has received the letter of president Jahjaga and she will receive a reply in due time”, said Kocijancic.
President Jahjaga says that she has sent to baroness Catherine Ashton a letter that relates to the extension of the mandate of EULEX in Kosovo, following the end of international monitoring of the independence.
The president’s letter stresses the need that Kosovo has for EULEX presence for another 2 years.
The president also invited EULEX mission based on the state’s applicable laws and constitution and not based on resolution 1244.
EULEX in Kosovo and the special representative of the EU is given the privilege and immunity emanating from the Vienna Convention, states among others the letter of president Jahjaga. /ibna/
