The President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiades, expressed his readiness for a new dialogue today at his meeting with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Cyprus Ms Jane Holl Lute.
In his statements to journalists, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Japanese Embassy in Cyprus, asked what issues he raised at the meeting he had earlier today in the Presidential Palace with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Cyprus issue, the President of the Republic replied: “Our known positions, namely that we are ready to enter into a new dialogue from where it was interrupted, in July 2017”.
The Government Spokesman, Prodromos Prodromou, said that “during the meeting, following the Secretary General’s wish to know what the attitude of the parties involved was, the President of the Republic reiterated the readiness of the Greek Cypriot side to resume negotiations from the point where they were interrupted in the Crans Montana Conference, with the Guterres framework as a given.
The President of the Republic had the opportunity to set out in detail the positions and the positive approach of our side, hoping that with the positive attitude of the Turkish side, it will be possible to start the negotiations again.
