Nicos Anastasiades has left for China, where he will participate in the Summit Forum on the Silk Road, to be held in Beijing. In the Chinese capital, the Cypriot president is expected to hold bilateral meetings with heads of state and governments.

In today’s statements to reporters at the Presidential Palace, Government Spokeswoman Prodromos Prodromou said: “This is a very important international meeting, focusing mainly on international economic relations, transport and connectivity. This forum will be attended by leaders of 40 states and governments.

Cyprus, as a country that has always been a hub of trade and has a prominent place in international connectivity, and now it is also part of the international energy map, has a particular interest today to develop its position and to put forward advantages as a member state of the European Union in this new, enhanced Europe-Asia relationship that is being cultivated with this initiative of the Government of China”.

It should be noted that the European Union will be represented in the Forum by Commission President Jean Claude Juncker, while Energy Commissioner Jean Claude Junckerwill also be there./ibna
