The largest opposition party, Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) is concerned over what it considers to be as blackmailing policies of prime minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci being exerted against artists in Kosovo.
“By threatening that they may undergo competitions or by demanding for the announced competitions not to be finalized until the period ahead of the elections, Mr. Thaci is attempting to shut up this category of opinion makers and creators and condition the vote of these creators”, states today’s reaction of the committee of cultural experts at the LDK.
In an effort to argue this accusation, LDK has mentioned the closure of the competition for the Cinematographic Center of Kosovo, where 59 screenwriters of different genres have applied.
“After electing the political director of the National Theater, PDK is also attempting to launch a competition for 12 actors, who will be part of the Theater Ensemble. The competition will be launched in the coming days, but the selection may be done in May or start of June. ‘Shota’ ensemble may soon undergo a competition too, in order to complete the ensemble of this institution. These cultural institutions have been subject to the political dictate of PDK”, says LDK. /ibna/
