Premier Edi Rama has reacted today about the case of the mayor of Vlora, Shpetim Gjika, who has been accused for issuing construction permits by breaking the law.
In his speech, Rama said that Shpetim Gjika is a friend and a senior figure of the Socialist Party, who is serving as the mayor of a big city such as Vlora, but he added that the accusations of the Prosecution are very serious.
“We hope that such accusations will be groundless, but we ask from justice to do its job. We want to see Gjika acquitted from these accusations and as mayor of Vlora, he should prove his innocence with facts. We will not act as a shield for anybody who is accused of corruption and abuse. We want a fair and equal Albania and this is valid for us too”, said Rama. /ibna/
