The declarations issued by Tanja Fajon MEP for the postponement of the visa liberalization regime have sparked reactions in the political arena in Kosovo.

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci demanded from the opposition and all of those who are against demarcation with Montenegro to do this as soon as possible.

“We are waiting for visas to be scrapped and Kosovo is ready for such a historical decision.

The remaining criterion, that of the ratification of the Demarcation Agreement with Montenegro must be delivered by the government and parliament of Kosovo in the days to come”, Thaci declared.

Thaci says that everyone will be a loser from this situation. Thaci also said that this must not be used for political purposes.

“Every obstacle in the application of this criterion will keep citizens of Kosovo isolated. Demarcation doesn’t exist as a cause”.

Meanwhile, opposition officials say that the postponement of the visa liberalization regime comes as a result of a damaging agreement that the government has signed with Montenegro and according to the opposition, Kosovo loses around 8 thousand hectares of land.

Frasher Krasniqi, spokesman of Self Determination says that Slovenia too, the country that Fajon comes from, has not solved the issue of demarcation with Croatia and both of them are EU members.

“Montenegro has benefited the visa liberalization regime, the same as Serbia and Slovenia. Why should this condition be imposed on Kosovo? We cannot be held responsible for protecting the territory of Kosovo. Hashim Thaci and Isa Mustafa must be held responsible for giving away 8 thousand hectares of land to Montenegro”, Krasniqi declared. /balkaneu.com/
