A regular monthly poll by Bulgaria’s National Statistical Institute (NSI) has found that executives in the country saw the business climate as slightly improved in February 2018, compared with the previous month.
The total business climate indicator increased by 0.5 percentage points in comparison with January 2018.
An improvement of the business climate was registered in Bulgaria’s construction sector, while in industry, there was a slight drop. The indicators for the retail trade and service sector were largely unchanged from January, the NSI said.
The composite indicator “business climate in industry” decreased by 0.5 percentage points, mainly because managers were more reserved in their expectations for the next six months.
In the construction sector, the indicator was up by 3.6 percentage points, as managers had a more optimistic view of the coming six months.
At the same time, their forecast about the construction activity over the next three months were more optimistic, which they said would lead to the additional hiring of personnel.
The retail trade indicator was similar to that in January, with more reserved opinions about the volume of sales in the past three months, while their forecasts for the sales and orders placed with suppliers over the next three months were more favourable.
In Bulgaria’s service sector, the indicator also was similar to that in January. “Managers’ assessments and expectations about the business situation of enterprises are shifting to the more moderate opinions,” the NSI said.
At the same time, their forecasts about the demand for services over next three months are favourable, the institute said…/IBNA
