The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj has spoken today in parliament about people leaving the country and called on EU institutions to speed up the process of stabilization and association and lift the visa regime for Kosovo nationals.

“I call on the EU to speed up the process of stabilization and association with Kosovo, to lift the visa regime and not punish two million people. Those who commit crimes and corruption must be punished and not two million citizens”, said Haradinaj.

For LDK’s lawmaker, Teuta Sahatqija, the fact that the visa regime is in place is encouraging illegal migration.

“In fact, this is causing difficulties in Kosovo. Once visas are lifted, criminals would no longer be able to operate”, declared she.

Sahatqija has encouraged police to stop human smugglers, while the Ministry of Integration to intensify its campaign against illegal migration.

PDK lawmaker, Blerta Deliu-Kodra said that this issue requires a serious approach, but migration cannot be stopped through repressive measures.

She said that the opening of new jobs and the inability to move freely, has led to a larger migration.

Self Determination has asked for this issue not to be used for political purposes, without identifying the causes of this phenomenon.

SD MP, Aida Derguti said that a report should be submitted until the end of March by the Ministry of Interior about the number of people who have left. /ibna/
