Tirana, 15 April 2013, by Ariola Imeri
Harsh protests of politically persecuted people return in Tirana. Members of the association are threatening to set themselves on fire if their legitimate requests for compensation, as provided for by the law, are not met.
A group of former political prisoners gathered in front of Albanian Parliament.
Later, they chained themselves to the Parliament’s door.
Speaking to present media, they said they are protesting because they have not received compensation installments which they are entitled to.
Skender Tufa, Head of the Prisoners’ Association, clarified that “today’s protest is peaceful” but added “we shall continue with other actions.”
“The government should not oblige us to revert to extreme actions,” stated Skender Tufa.
