The four main political parties in FYROM could not strike a deal yesterday after engaging in talks that lasted for more than 6 hours. The talks were held in the US embassy in the presence of the US ambassador, Jess Baily.
After the meeting, ambassador Baily said that the sides are coming closer to coming up with a proposal and according to him, an agreement is soon expected to be reached.
“I cannot say that we have an agreement. What I can say is that an interesting idea has been emerged. This is an important agreement for the country, EU and USA”, said Baily.
One of the pending issues on which sides are not coming to an agreement is the bill on Interior Ministry. With the new changes, the majority of powers of the Ministry of Interior are transferred to the government and the minister’s powers are restricted.
According to the Przino agreement, the post of the Minister of Interior belongs to the opposition.
Present in last night’s talks were work groups of the four main political parties: VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM, BDI and PDSH. /balkaneu.com/
