Albanian politicians continue to debate on the issue of negotiations with the European Union and the decision to delay them until June next year.
Today’s parliamentary debates were focused on this issue. The majority considers this as a positive decision for the country, while the opposition considers it as a negative one.
The Albanian PM, Edi Rama even accused the opposition of exerting its influence with the aim of damaging this process.
“This is confirmed by all our partners. This is confirmed by those who offered their contribution for Albania. Our opposition is the only one saying that the negotiations will not be opened, while the EU Council sends a postcard of congratulations for every Albanian. We will continue our work because there’s still a lot to do and a lot of battles to win”, Rama said.
Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition, Lulzim Basha has reacted by saying that we cannot join Europe without embracing European values.
He added that “Europe can only be joined if we embrace the truth” and that “yesterday, the EU Council of Ministers decided that no membership talks will be started with Albania”. /ibna/
