European Parliament rapporteur on FYROM, Ivo Vajgl has declared that the constant political crisis may escalate and turn into an ethnic crisis.
“Protests in Macedonia are organized and as such, they are welcome in a democracy. But the situation may escalate into an ethnic conflict”, Vajgl said.
Vajgl has also commented the decision of president George Ivanov not to meet EU commissioner Hahn and MEPs Eduard Kukan and Knut Fleckenstein.
“It was clear that he did not want to meet us. I translated his message as an invitation for the people to take to the streets and this is a rather irresponsible invitation”, Vajgl said.
Vajgl also called for the sides to sit down and engage in dialogue. /balkaneu.com/
