The Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Alexandros N. Zenon and the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Romania, Ambassador George N. Ciamba, held political consultations Thursday, in Nicosia.
In the course of the consultations, the bilateral relations were reviewed, emphasising sectors in which the cooperation of the two countries could be further enhanced, such as tourism, education and cooperation in multilateral organisations. Regional matters were also discussed, including the Eastern Neighbourhood, the political situation in Turkey, latest developments in the Middle East, whereas Permanent Secretary Zenon briefed his Romanian counterpart on the trilateral cooperation of Cyprus and Greece with countries of the region. There was also an exchange of views on Brexit and the accession of Romania to the Schengen area and the Eurozone.
During his visit to Cyprus, State Secretary Ciamba has also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Kasoulides, the Minister of Energy, Commmerce, Industry and Tourism, Giorgos Lakkotrypis and the Negotiator of the Greek Cypriot side, Ambassador Mavroyiannis./IBNA
