“Policy Dialogue on Health System and Public Health Reform in Cyprus” is the two-day- event that kicked off today at the Filoxenia Conference Centre, in Lefkosia, organised by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO)/ Europe.
Cyprus Minister of Health, George Pamboridis, Greek Health Minister, Andreas Xanthos, and the WHO/Europe Regional Director, Zsuzsanna Jakab, addressed the opening session of today’s works, in the presence of distinguished participants from Cyprus and abroad.
Presenting the reforms that either have been initiated or have been planned in the public health sector in Cyprus, Pamboridis expounded on the reforms to be performed under the National Health Scheme and the autonomization of the public hospitals, and praised the support and guidance provided by WHO/Europe in addressing common concerns.
On her part, WHO/Europe Regional Director presented global and regional statistics, and made a special reference on the way Cyprus is being affected by this data.
On his part, the Greek Health Minister brief participants on the practices applied in the health sector in Greece, that aim the universal coverage and sustainability of the Public Health System./IBNA
