Police raids the notorious village of Lazarat, one wounded

State police has carried out an operation with the participation of 500 police officers, in the framework of the war against the cultivation of narcotic substances in the village of Lazarat.

Lazarat is a village in the south of the country notorious for the cultivation of cannabis and where police have only attempted once around 10 years ago to enter the village in order to destroy the fields cultivated with the narcotic plant.

During this operation, a group of identified people have opened fire against police forces and as a result of the exchange of fire, a 45 year old, resident of Lazarat has remained wounded.

Police informs that its structures continue their operation in order to destroy fields cultivated with cannabis and capture the people who opened fire against police officers.

For this operation, state police is collaborating with the prosecution of Gjirokaster and the local government and residents of Lazarat have been asked to distance themselves from this group of people who opened fire against police.

Police of state declared in a press statement that it’s committed in fulfilling its mission and “liberate” the people of Lazarat from this criminal group. /ibna/
