Ministry of Interior conducted an operation last evening in Cair, Skopje, which led to the arrest of three police inspectors.

The operation was conducted late in the evening in the Cair quarter, where police, accompanied by special units have arrested three police inspectors. Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, Ivo Kotevski confirmed the arrest of the inspectors, but stressed that the names of the inspectors will not be made public.

“Amongst the arrested is also a chief inspector and the three inspectors are suspected of bribery and corruption”, said Kotevski. According to him, they had demanded bribery from an Albanian businessman, Ibrahim Ismaili, who was killed last month in his car in the suburb of Skopje from unknown persons. The money was requested to cover evidence relating to a gun found at the crime scene. Ministry of Interior said that more details will be issued on this case as inquiries continue for the involvement of other police officers. /ibna/
