Police conducts an anti-narcotics operation in Kurvelesh, residents open fire

An operation organized by police of Gjirokaster, Tepelena, Fier, Rapid Intervention Forces and Delta Force against narcotic substances in the area of Kurvelesh, has engaged 350 police officers and 5 armored vehicles.

Police intervention in Kurvelesh and the village of Progonat was received with fire by residents, in an attempt to prevent the operation in this area.

IBNA learns that several young men have opened fire in the air in order to intimidate police and then run off.

There were no wounded people as a result of the shots fired in Progonat, while so far, police have discovered several parcels planted with cannabis sativa. Meanwhile, police are also searching several other villages in Kurvelesh.

The operation continues in order to discover the narcotic substances and arrest the people who cultivate it, by installing check points. /ibna/
