The successful presidential elections will lead the country in the right direction and will contribute towards obtaining a date for the launch of accession talks with the EU. This was said by the US Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, Matthew Palmer in a meeting held with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev on the sidelines of EBRD’s General Assembly taking place in Sarajevo.
According to the government’s press office, the meeting has stressed the excellent cooperation that exists between North Macedonia and the US.
“The democratic elections confirmed that democracy in our country is maturing. We showed that we have the necessary capacities to address difficult issues and now, we’re focused on the future of the country and on economic development”, Zaev said.
Meanwhile, the US senior official Palmer has stressed the importance of setting a date for the launch of accession talks with the EU, while underlining the fact that North Macedonia should act as an example in the region about the way it managed to solve the name dispute. /ibna/
