Former prime minister, Sali Berisha considered the decision of the government to shut down 18 universities as an unimaginable attack of the ignorance toward higher education in Albania.
In a new conference delivered today, Berisha considered PM Rama as a person who doesn’t know anything about education.
According to Berisha, in the blink of an eye, the head of the government decided to close public universities for 1/3 of A-level students in Albania and reduce the percentage of the admission to universities from 72% to 43%.
He said that universities helped all of those who up until a few years ago, had considered university as the forbidden fruit, adding that a new chapter that respects the university dream must be opened.
Referring to the annual quota on higher education, Berisha added that this quota was unjustly increased. Berisha recalled the fact that during his time in office, VAT on higher education was lifted. /ibna/
