Former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha has received a letter today from the US President, Barack Obama, where he is thanked about the collaboration between the two countries during the period that he was head of government.
The letter from the head of the White House states that it has been an honor and delight to collaborate with former Prime Minister Berisha during his term in office, stressing that Albania is an ally and a friend of the USA.
“In the quality of Prime Minister, you have helped in strengthening ties between our two countries. I’d like to thank you about your support to our efforts in Afghanistan and Syria and about your work in preserving stability in the Balkan. I would also like to reconfirm my gratitude for the collaboration of your government about the prisoners of GuantamoBay and residents of Hurriya Camp. These are important issues and we praise the strong support offered by Albania. As you turn into an important member of the opposition, I’m convinced that you will remain positively committed in the process of Albania’s integration in the EU. Albania needs an efficient and constructive opposition which will focus on the developments of the country and one which works with the new government to produce tangible results for the Albanian people. Allow me to send you my best wishes and lots of luck in your future efforts”, states amongst others the letter of the US President Obama, made public by Berisha on his Facebook profile. /ibna/
