The head of the Program for Peace-building and Rights at Columbia University, David L Phillips, says that disputes on borders exist between many countries of former Yugoslavia.
“Brussels must withdraw the condition imposed on Kosovo according to which, the liberalization of the visa regime depends on the ratification of the border deal between Kosovo and Montenegro. Border disputes exist between many countries of former Yugoslavia. Brussels is being biased towards Albanians”, Phillips says.
Corruption and border demarcation with Montenegro remain the two main criteria for the liberalization of the visa regime for Kosovo’s citizens.
Kosovo is the only country in the region which has not yet been granted a visa-free regime for its citizens in order to be able to travel freely in the EU member countries. /balkaneu.com/
