Petrol bombs, light injuries  and 13 arrests from the street battles

Clashes between the police and  leftist extremist took place in Athens and other big cities last night, during marches for the 7th anniversary of the murder of a 15 year old  protester from the police  back in 2008 -young Alexandros Grigorooulos was shot by a police officer  and the officer was convicted to life imprisonment for voluntary manslaughter

Protesters threw rocks and  Molotov coktails (petrol bombs)  against  police officers, shops, banks,  cars, garbage bins and other targets.  Police used teat gas. There were 13 arrests  –half of them underage, and one of them only 13 years old. Today thet were escorted to the prosecutor who charged them for arson, physical assault etc

The march of the protestors (about 2.500 in Athens)  started around 6 p.m. on Sunday, 6th of December, but clashes continued till early in the morning of Monday

Violent protest were also held in Hrakleio Crete, and Thessaloniki

Five people suffered light injuries in  Athens – 4 police officers and a  passing by Portuguese tourist (from a stone).
