Person in Kosovo accused of war crimes by EULEX, two others arrested

EU Mission for the Rule of Law said today that charges have been pressed against a person for the criminal offense of war crimes against civil population, while two others have been arrested.

“A special EULEX prosecutor from the Special Prosecution of Kosovo has pressed charges today at the Court of First Instance in Pristina against a person for the criminal offense of war crimes against civilian population”, confirmed EULEX sources for IBNA.

The defendant, the identity of whom has not been revealed, is accused of participating in a group which is alleged to have exerted violence against 40 men, all Albanian civilians, an event taken place in Fushe Kosova in 1999.

EULEX police have also arrested today two persons accused of war crimes against civilians, in relation to the maltreatment of two Albanian women during the conflict in Kosovo.

“EULEX police and the Unit for the Investigation of War Crimes has arrested two persons accused of war crimes against civilians, in relation to the maltreatment of two Albanian women during the conflict in Kosovo”, confirmed official sources of EULEX for balkaneu.com.

The arrested people are Nexhat Qubreli and Ismet Haxha. This was confirmed a few minutes ago by the defense attorney, Mahmut Halimi. Both men are from Mitrovica. /ibna/
