Three people lost their live and at least six others remained seriously wounded in a shooting taken place on Wednesday evening (03.02) in the city of Elbasan.
Police sources say that the shooting was well organized. Several persons who were wearing police uniforms, opened fire with Kalashnikov machine guns, by causing the injury of six persons who were in the bar.
Witnesses at the scene said that machine gun and pistol shots were heard.
As a result of the wounds, three people died on the spot, while six injured people were sent with a helicopter in the Tirana Hospital ER.
To prevent the authors from leaving the scene, police say that they have blocked the roads segment linking Elbasan to Librazhd which leads to the border crossing points with FYR Macedonia and Greece.
Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri has ordered special police forces to be sent to Elbasan.
Preliminary police inquiries indicate that the event is suspected to be a settlement of debts between rival gangs and the motives are suspected to relate to revenge.
This event has shocked public opinion, as it has taken place in a public space, in a bar full of customers. It’s not officially confirmed if there were innocent people among the victims, happening to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. /ibna/
