Violent episodes took place between residents of Kos and the police at the old military camp of Pyli where a hotspot is to be build. The residents (about 300) protested against the construction of the hotspot. Demonstrators tried to stop the workers who had already started to work in constructions and police threw tear gas and chemicals.
Three men were injured – among them a journalist.
Previously a visit to Kos by Defence Minister Panos Kamenos on Thursday was almost cancelled, since protestors prevented his helicopter from landing. The helicopter of the minister (who is responsible for the hotspot) was forced to land in a nearby field.
