Two people die from flu in Skopje

Two patients have diedaway today (21.02) from flu in the Clinic of Infective Diseases in Skopje.

The two victims were a man and a woman, 65 years of age and 74 years of age respectively. They had been admitted in this clinic for more than 10 days for problems with the respiratory system.

The two patients suffered problems with the respiratory system, blood pressure, pulmonary cold, diabetes and other symptoms. The fatal flu virus that has erupted caused their death.

In spite of the efforts made by doctors to save them, the two elderly passed away today.

115 patients have been admitted in the Clinic of Infective Diseases. According to this clinic, so far, the the number of victims since the start of the year is 7, following a massive spreading of a seasonal flu in the country.

“The virus that caused an epidemic in 2009 and 2010 now has the features of an ordinary seasonal flu. This is not the same virus, it’s not necessarily fatal and the consequences and treatments are similar to the seasonal flu”, said officials from the Public Health Institute in Skopje. /ibna/
