Pendarovski, presidential nominee of the biggest opposition party LSDM

Macedonian university professor, Stevo Pendarovski confirmed today (27.02) that he has accepted an offer to be the only nominee of the biggest Macedonian opposition party LSDM (Social Democratic Macedonian League) for the presidential race of April 13.

“I was confirmed by LSDM that as a nominee proposed by the leading board of this party, I have received the support of 76 branches of this party and the trust of the opposition electorate. After assessing this situation, I have decided to accept the offer”, declared today Pendarovski.

He said that the proposal for the nomination will enter in the party’s procedures, where LSDM is expected to take its decision on the March 4th convention.

Pendarovski is not a member of LSDM, but chairman of the advisory team for issues of security and European integration of this party which is comprised of experts of different fields. Pendarovski is also a professor in a private university in Skopje. Previously, he has been an adviser for security affairs in the cabinet of former late president Boris Trajkovski and then in the cabinet of president Branko Cervenkovski until 2009. /ibna/
