PDL President Vasile Blaga (photo) said yesterday that PDL would most likely be on its own in the 2014 European parliamentary election, as, in his opinion, common lists of candidates shared with other right-wing parties would be ‘a very complicated’ thing. ‘I believe we will be alone in the European parliamentary election. (…) our concern s PDL, its reconstruction and regaining the trust of our voters’, Blaga explained before the National Standing Bureau (BPN) meeting.
The PDL president’s reaction was to a statement made by Civic Force leader Mihai Razvan Ungureanu at a press conference in Arad, according to which the Romanian Right is now ‘fragmented and inconsistent’ and the only chance is the ‘unity of action’ of the right-wing parties. ‘We need to understand that, if we want the Romanian Right to stand a chance, there are two short-term and one medium-term projects.
