Clear message regarding the Greekness of Macedonia has sent the President of Greece Prokopis Pavlopoulos during his meeting with a delegation of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Central Macedonia (PEDKM) at the Presidential Palace.

“The Macedonian land cries out from its guts that is Greece. Even today”, said the President of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Central Macedonia, Lazaros Kyrizoglou, to receive the reply from Pavlopoulos, “this is why only fools can doubt”.

Indeed, the president stressed that “Amphipolis is inexhaustible as a region when one ponders when the excavations began. And keep in mind that the archeological research has many surprises in store for us in the future”.

The reason for the statement by Pavlopoulos was an honorary plaque that was offered to him by the delegation of Regional Union of Municipalities of Central Macedonia, which displayed the emblem of the Regional Union: Alexander the Great, the star of Vergina, and a detail from the mosaic of Amphipolis .

The vice president of the union, Simeon Daniilidis, requested the assistance of the President of the Republic to continue excavations in the area, because there is, as he noted, great wealth, which can be revealed and contribute to the national issues of the country, but also to economy and development.

Meanwhile, the President assured the delegation of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Central Macedonia: “As far as I can, within my jurisdiction, I will as always support the local government as the cell of the Republic and as a pillar of our society”.

Continuing, the President referred to the period he was Interior Minister saying: “you remind me a lot of things from the time of the Interior Ministry. That was then, this is now. A Local Government which in your own area has undertaken responsibilities and burdens that exceed its limits as it has to face the humanitarian crisis. I want to wish you good luck. I have every confidence in your abilities, because you have proven yourselves, as most of you serve local government for years”.

For his part, the president of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Central Macedonia Kyrizoglou Lazarus said, addressing Pavlopoulos, that we keep the best of memories of our cooperation from the period you were Interior Minister and congratulated him on his inauguration at the highest State Office.
