Deputy chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Kadri Veseli has been elected today speaker of parliament.
Veseli has been proposed in this post based on the joint government agreement between PDK and LDK. Veseli received 71 votes in favor, 41 against and 1 abstains.
After the election of the speaker, parliament proceeded with the election of the three vice speakers. They are Xhavit Haliti (PDK), Sabri Hamiti (LDK) and Glauk Konjufca (Self Determination).
Based on constitutional provisions that guarantee representation in institutions and senior posts, minority communities have also elected two vice speakers.
They are Jasmina Zhivkovic from the Serb List and Duda Balje from other non Serb communities.
Self Determination and Alliance for the Future of Kosovo MPs have left the hall after the election of the new speaker.
Self Determination MP, Visar Ymeri said that Kadri Veseli represents Kosovo’s underworld and that now, he has been elected speaker of parliament.
Six months since the holding of early parliamentary elections in Kosovo, today marked the creation of the new institutions of the country.
These institutions will be formed based on a joint government agreement between Democratic Party of Kosovo and Democratic League of Kosovo. /ibna/
